South-southeast of Vandalia, Bellbrook has a total area of 3.1 square miles and is part of Greene County and the Dayton metro area. It was first settled in 1814 and named for one of its founders, Stephen Bell. Bellbrook was a village for many years, but grew through annexation of land from surrounding Sugarcreek Township. Bellbrook achieved city status in 1974, and today has a population of just over 7,000 residents (7,009, to be exact, according to the 2010 U.S. Census).
